GATEWAY TRANSPORTATION COLLABORATION FORUM

Description

CJI facilitated the Gateway Transportation Collaboration Forum (GTCF) as the Secretariat of the Steering Committee partners to collaboratively identify, develop, and seek federal funding for gateway-related projects of national trade significance. These partners included the Port of Vancouver, TransLink, Transport Canada, BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, and the Greater Vancouver Gateway Council.

Scope of Services

CJI facilitated the GTCF by providing oversight and direction of the steering committees, working groups and technical trade area studies.

This includes:

  • Facilitating GTCF partners in the identification, development and management of a suite of Gateway-related, multi-modal, corridor improvement projects;

  • Monitoring progress of trade area studies, supporting working groups in project development and supporting project applicants in advancing to the formal submission stage, facilitating project solutions that align with Pacific Gateway objectives and interests of all partners involved;

  • Liaising with key stakeholders, including municipalities and interest groups;

  • Facilitating negotiations for project funding partnerships.

Key Wins

  • Secured over $200 million in federal funding for projects that strengthen Metro Vancouver’s trade corridors and provide host community benefits.

  • Facilitated agreement among five industry and government bodies to identify forty projects that balance benefits to both the community and industry.

  • Developed project bundling strategies to build business cases. This resulted in federal funding applications that were successful.
