The Coast Meridian Overpass over CP Rail’s Port Coquitlam Yard was built to provide continuity between the primarily residential areas in the north to the industrial and commercial areas to the south. The overpass spans 750 m and it provides four traffic lanes, two bike lanes and a sidewalk.
As the Project Director for the City of Port Coquitlam, CJI’s services included carrying out an assessment of delivery models suitable for the inherent constraints and risks, as well as preparing a project team organization to act on behalf of and to advise the City during project development, procurement and delivery. Our team assessed different delivery models to mitigate project risks and constraints, managed the procurement of the design-build contract, chaired the Project Steering Committee meetings with representation from TransLink and the City of Port Coquitlam, regularly participated at City Council and committee meetings, and Provided monthly reports on construction, including schedule analysis, contractor claims, and general contract administration. CJI’s involvement contributed to the successful delivery of an innovative cable-stayed steel structure of CP Rail’s largest and busiest rail yard.
