Golden Ears Crossing

CJI received the Consulting Engineers of British Columbia's 2006 Annual Award of Excellence for coordinating all technical aspects during the development of this $1B Public-Private Partnership Project. This included scope definition, context sensitive design of roads and bridges, environmental permitting, accommodation of transit users, cyclists and pedestrians on a speed-managed toll highway.
The Golden Ears Crossing and Golden Ears Way is a new crossing of the Fraser River, in the east of the Metro Vancouver area. It involves 14 kilometres of new four-lane and six lane approach roads and approximately 6 kilometres of approach structures.The main bridge is a five span cable stayed structure 1.2 kilometres in length. The project includes two crossings of Railway mainlines, three interchanges, and bridge crossings of Highway #1 and Highway #7.
CJI was the Technical Manager for the development, procurement and implementation phases of this project. CJI lead the preparation of the procurement and contract documents as well as the evaluation of technical proposals.
CJI acted as the implementation manager for the construction phase providing oversight of the construction works providing input to dispute resolutions, quality management and stakeholder communications. This project was an eight year assignment for CJI.
