Tranportation for the Pebble Mine

The Pebble Mine in southwest Alaska, when completed, will be one of the largest copper-gold mines in the world. Collings Johnston Inc., together with Associated Engineering, assisted Northern Dynasty Mines and Hunter Dickinson with access and logistics studies for mine supplies and concentrate, to and from tidewater to the Pebble Property in southwest Alaska. Various modes of transport were considered for purposes of mine construction and operations. Studies included assessments for transportation by barge, road and pipeline together with trade-off studies for most advantageous port locations. Alternative locations for a 150 km access road were investigated along with an implementation plan for the construction of the road.

Scope of Services:

  • Leading multi-disciplinary teams in providing technical services to Northern Dynasty Mines,
  • Assisting with the preparation of the mine feasibility report which was used for obtaining a mining license.
